Teacher not Savior

Inspired by Joan

While I am surprised it has taken this long, it also seems rather sudden that I am now (finally/already) deciding on seminary.  William Faulkner once said, “I never know what I think about something until I read what I’ve written on it,” and I concur.  Thus, my decision will have to be written on these pages before it can be solid in my mind.  And my writing toward the decision can take no better start than from a book given to me by an elder lady in my church.

scholastica-and-benedictJoan ran up to me during the service and exclaimed, “You have to read Saving Jesus from the Church!  The author agrees that we don’t have to believe unbelievable things to have belief be part of our lives!”  It turns out that the book, published in 2009 and written by UCC minister Robin R. Meyers, is worthy of reading AND of commentary.  Chapter by chapter, I make my way through all the while pining for my Brother Benedict to discuss the book with me.  In his absence, this page serves.
